Westbrook Nature School, a non-profit nature-based

Westbrook Nature School, a non-profit nature-based preschool in Redding, CT is seeking a part-time Assistant for our Parent-Child Program. Hours will be from 8:15-11:30am five days per week for the fall, winter, and spring seasons. (Westbrook is closed during the summer months and school breaks.) Compensation is offered on an hourly basis.

Our Parent-Child Classes are for parents and caregivers with children from birth to three years of age. We meet once a week for two hours from 9-11am during the fall, winter, and spring. This group time provides important socialization for the young child and acclimates them to the school in preparation for the preschool-kindergarten experience. It also gives parents an opportunity to meet other parents in the area and discuss parenting issues.

Ideal candidates must love children and nature and be happy to work outdoors in all kinds of weather including rain and snow. The Assistant will support the Group Leader to provide a nurturing and respectful environment.

This dragonfly is in the process of emerging from his casing (see the “shell” beneath him on the moss?), his leg was still in the casing when we came upon him and we were amazed his large 4-5” body ever fit in such a tight case. 👀 💫

Dear Westbrook Families and Staff,

Look at what we accomplished for the Bethel Community Food Pantry! Thank you so much for contributing to the last donation drive of this school year. Our community never fails to step up!

On behalf of the Sunshine Committee, I would like to thank the entire Westbrook community for the incredible donation efforts we have made this year. We provided much-needed supplies for the local wildlife organization Christine’s Critters, filled a family-in-need's holiday wish list for The Center for Family Justice, and collected non-perishable food items and cleaning and personal hygiene products for the Bethel Community Food Pantry. We also provided monthly sandwich and homemade cookie deliveries for Dorothy Day Hospitality House from September through May.

Our charitable efforts have shown our children the importance of helping those in need in our surrounding communities. A small donation from us can make a huge difference in someone’s life. Thank you again so much for everyone’s collective efforts!
