Yurt Rendition by Kristen White
Our yurt, still under construction, is a round, 12 pole, domed lodge with an earthen floor overlooking Westbrookâs vista of the Saugatuck River. It is made of natural, whole timbers and bark slabs locally gathered and is in keeping with the environmental ethos of the school.
The yurt is becoming an essential part of the Westbrook experience by giving us a meeting place in the woods and greater flexibility for being and staying outdoors. Our new yurt classroom will allow us to more easily engage in a variety of artistic and educational endeavors while being surrounded by the incredible beauty and wonder of the changing seasons.
