Westbrook's Community Outreach

Westbrook believes strongly in giving back to our surrounding communities. We partner with other non-profits and organizations to help those in need, showing our children the true meaning of compassion. These experiences demonstrate a sense of social responsibility and model the importance of having a positive impact on the lives of others.

  • Dorothy Day - Each month families at Westbrook donate sandwiches or cookies to help the hungry and homeless community. Dorothy Day Hospitality House is based on the Houses of Hospitality founded by Dorothy Day during the Great Depression. Westbrook donates monthly throughout the school year. During our "Sandwich Months", families donate ingredients for 50 sandwiches to help feed the hungry. With guidance from the teachers, our kindergarten children make the sandwiches and include handmade drawings or notes. During our "Cookie Months", Westbrook families donate eight dozen homemade cookies to brighten the day of the Dorothy Day individuals.

  • Pajama Program - Pajama Program is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes and supports a comforting bedtime routine and healthy sleep for all children to help them thrive. Westbrook hosts PJ and Book Drives and, with the help of our Parent-Child and Kindergarten families, we strive to make impactful donations for children in Connecticut.

  • Amos House - Amos House is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness by ensuring that female residents have the opportunity to achieve the competencies required for permanent, self-sufficient independent living. Westbrook partnered with Amos House to collect toiletry donations for women and children. When donating items, families involved their children to help select items from stores, allowing for teachable moments about acts of kindness.

  •  The Diaper Bank of CT - The Diaper Bank of Connecticut centralizes the fundraising and distribution of free infant and toddler diapers, youth incontinence supplies, period products, and adult incontinence supplies to low-income families in Connecticut. Westbrook is hosting our first Diaper Drive this fall, and we look forward to a continued partnership with The Diaper Bank of CT.
